Laproscopy is a day care operative procedure done under General Anaesthesia wherein a small incision is made in abdomen to visualise the uterus, tubes and ovaries through a fibre optic instrument.
Laproscopy is done for evaluation and treatment of:
- Tubal block
- Ovarian cyst
- PCOS (ovarian drilling when indicated)
Hysteroscopy is the inspection of the uterine cavity by endoscopy with access through the cervix. It allows for the diagnosis of intrauterine pathology and serves as a method for surgical intervention.
Hysteroscopy is done for diagnosis and management of:
- Endometrial polyp
- Uterine septum
- Asherman’s syndrome
- Thin endometrium
- Congenital uterine abnormalities – where it needs to be combined with laparoscopy.
- Fibroid polyps and submucous fibroids.
