Surrogacy is the process that involves using the woman’s uterus for the purpose of implanting and carrying an embryo in order to deliver a baby for another person or couple. The woman who will carry the embryo is known as surrogate. This process necessitates using in vitro fertilization in order to place the fertilized egg into the surrogate’s uterus. There are two types of surrogacy one is traditional surrogacy and another one is gestational surrogacy. Both have their own way of functioning.

Traditional Surrogacy

When a couple is using traditional surrogacy the surrogate acts both as the egg donor and the surrogate for the embryo. And thus she is made pregnant using a process known as intrauterine insemination or IUI. In this IUI procedure the doctor will transfer sperm that is taken from the biological father and will consequently transfer that sperm into surrogate’s uterus so that fertilization may take place naturally.

So with traditionally surrogacy the surrogate is also the biological mother of the child. This type of surrogacy is typically only used if the biological mother’s egg and the biological fathers sperm are unable to be used.

Gestational Surrogacy

With gestational surrogacy the surrogate’s egg are not used at all. Therefore the child’s will not be related to the surrogate biologically. Using the gestational type of surrogacy the embryo is actually is created by using both the biological father’s sperm and biological mother’s egg through a process called in vitro fertilization.

It is not until the biological mother’s egg is fertilized that the embryo is transferred to the uterus of the surrogate using the process of in vitro fertilization. In general under gestational surrogacy it will take between three and five days for the embryo to develop in the laboratory prior to its transfer to the surrogate. Then once the embryo is shifted successfully into the surrogate’s uterus, the surrogate will carry the embryo through the pregnancy term until its birth.

The success rate of such in vitro fertilization will depend upon several factors. Age and the health being the prime factor of the mother who is providing the egg. Get it done by the expert’s, Ferticity provides best Surrogacy treatment in Delhi, India.
